The roles of communities in crypto adoption
On October 30th, we hosted our fourth #cryptocoffee session on Twitter — a live chat that Utrust is hosting once a month to bring our community into a dialogue about the state of the crypto space. Every month we’re inviting personalities or companies to discuss blockchain, digital currencies, e-commerce and other relevant topics surrounding payment solutions of the future.
☕ #cryptocoffee
For the fourth #cryptocoffee we invited Fernando Gutierrez, CMO at Dash, an open-source project that delivers safe decentralized financial solutions. Fernando, together with our community manager Jorge Rebelo, discussed the role of communities in crypto adoption. It was an engaging conversation.
If you couldn’t follow the chat live, we got you! Here’s a catch up :
❓Questions
#cryptocoffee Q1:
Welcome to #cryptocoffee 😀 First things first. Q1: Where you are typing from at the moment?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST Coffe bar - #Kranj
— @TyanONE
#cryptocoffee Q2:
Q2: Do you believe that having a strong #community directly impacts the success of a #project?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST Absolutely! What most teams in crypto are trying is huge, there is no way it can be done without a strong community building around the project, and spreading the message. No team can do it on their own.
#cryptocoffee Q3:
Q3: Name 3 #blockchain or #crypto communities that you think are interesting to follow and why.
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST I would point the @Dashpay, @DigiByteCoin and @BitcoinCashFans communities as 3 examples of people who got together on their vision and fight daily for what they believe. Regardless of each other opinion technology-wise, as a #community, I respect them a lot.
— @jorgreb
#cryptocoffee Q4:
Q4: What does #community mean to your #project?
— @UTRUST
@jorgreb @UTRUST Community is that nonphysical power which should motivate the team in the hard days and share joy in the days of victory. In @UTRUST we trust. 😉
#cryptocoffee Q5:
Q5: What measures and precautions do you take to tackle the negative press around crypto and promote a healthy conversation?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST We try to educate journalists on any occasion we have and routinely reach out. Many times, negative press is the result of a lack of information. It is very difficult to keep up with everything that is happening in our industry, so journalists appreciate an honest conversation.
#cryptocoffee Q6:
Q6: In the last couple of years what do you think that has changed in the #crypto communities?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST The awareness of the technology and more usability in the real world and not speculation only.
#cryptocoffee Q7:
Q7: What are the main challenges of managing a large community?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST I would say, expectations management. It's very easy to not use the correct wording and a message spreading way faster than you intended with not so accurate information. The biggest challenge is keeping a consistent and final message across all channels. (1/2)
— @jorgreb
#cryptocoffee Q8:
Q8: What are your favorite moments spent with the Utrust #community?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST Definitively Meetups and the occasional gif party our community does on Telegram. Another great example was meeting @CryptoTamil and @Kallerz37 on our platform unveiling in Amsterdam. That was one of the best moments I had since joining #Utrust. (1/3)
— @jorgreb
#cryptocoffee Q9:
Q9: What are the differences in managing #digitalcurrencies communities compared to product-related communities?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST No central community management, but anyone involved will tell you that it's more intense. In crypto, we don't just use, we believe. Also, most are invested in some capacity. We are more engaged and intense than your average product community. Beliefs and wallets are at stake 😀
#cryptocoffee Q10:
Q10: How do you fit a #community management #strategy with your project/product strategy?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST There are many ways of doing so, we actually used one which was creating a Beta Wallet group with 50 of our top placed community members in a waiting list. Their help was really impactful on the development of the Wallet. (1/2)
— @jorgreb
#cryptocoffee Q11:
Q11: How do you inspire your communities to keep them aligned with your vision for the #MoneyOfTomorrow?
— @UTRUST
@UTRUST Talking about the big picture and reminding everyone why we do what we do. Day to day is sometimes very hard, but we can overcome everything if we don't lose sight of the end goal of financial freedom for everyone.
